Orbit

File manager for macOS

Everything you own, in one orbit.

A keyboard-first, multi-pane file manager. Your disks, archives, SFTP servers, NAS shares and cloud drives sit side by side — and F5 moves files between any of them.

01 — Panes

Two panes is only the start.

Split a window into up to four panes across twelve layouts. Every pane keeps its own tabs, history and view, and the whole arrangement saves as a workspace you can bring back with one shortcut.

02 — Connections

Every server, browsed like a folder.

Orbit talks to your servers and cloud drives itself — nothing to mount, no drivers to install. Open a bucket next to your NAS and copy straight across; transfers pause, resume and retry on their own.

ArchivesOpen zip, 7z, tar and iso like folders. RAR opens for reading.
Remote editOpen a remote file in any app. Save, and Orbit uploads it — and warns you if the server copy changed first.
KeychainPasswords, keys and tokens stay in your macOS Keychain.

03 — Keyboard

Made for F5, not for dragging.

Every action is a command: bind it to any key, find it in the command palette, or pin it to the button bar. Start from the classic commander layout or from shortcuts that feel like the rest of your Mac.

04 — Batch work

Rename a whole trip. Sync a whole site.

Multi-Rename

Masks, counters, regex and photo metadata, with a live preview before anything changes — and one-click undo after.

Compare & Sync

Compare any two locations by date, size or content. Review every action before it runs, and save the setup to run again.

05 — Also aboard

The rest of the payload.

01

Workspaces

Save panes, tabs and views together, and switch between them with a hotkey.

02

Lister

Open multi-gigabyte logs instantly, in text, hex or binary.

03

Stash Shelf

Gather files from anywhere on a floating shelf, then drop them where they belong.

04

Quick Look & preview

A side preview for anything, with small text files editable in place.

05

Find anything

Search by name, size, date or contents — inside archives and on servers too.

06

Checksums

MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256 and more; create and verify checksum files.

07

Colour rules

Tint files by name, type, size or age so the important ones stand out.

08
